About the Role

Location: Torrance, CA Industry: Hospitality Shift: Monday to Friday; 9:00AM to 5:30PM Compensation: $65,000/YR~ (DoE) + benefits

Job duties include:

  • Initiate, develop and administer various human resources plan and procedures for all company personnel

  • Plan, organize and control all activities of the department; participate in developing department goals, objectives and systems

  • Implement and annually update the compensation program

  • Initiate, develop, recommend and implement personnel policies and procedures

  • Perform benefits, insurances and workers compensations administration

  • Process payrolls and maintains employees’ data and files

  • Initiate, develop and maintain affirmative action program

  • Establish and maintain department records and reports

  • Participate in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings, such as seminars

  • Initiate and organize staff meeting to improve and maintain HR related skill and acknowledge, such as sexual harassment meeting, safety meeting, leadership training

  • Maintain organizational charts and employee directory

  • Evaluate reports, decisions and results of department initiatives in relation to established goals; recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws

  • Be the point of contact for all HR issues and vendors. Communicates well with the managers to discuss how to resolve issues

  • Initiate and organize hiring strategy for each hotels and corporate office to keep appropriate number of staff and workload


  • Native level English and knowledge of Japanese culture or conversational in Japanese

  • Proven working experience handling payroll

  • Proven working experience as HR Manager or other HR Executive

  • People oriented and results driven

  • Demonstrable experience with Human Resources metrics

  • Knowledge of HR systems and databases

  • Ability to architect strategy along with leadership skills

  • Excellent active listening, negotiation and presentation skills

  • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company

  • In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices

  • Degree in Human Resources or related field
